Your master key is your unique encryption/decryption key for your account. Even if our servers were compromised or "hacked", the intruder would need your master key to access your information. When you set up your account you were prompted to download your master key and put it in safe place. If you were to lose your password, you must have the master key for us to be able to recover your data. If you do not have your master key we CANNOT recover your stored information. You may download your master key at any time from the control panel when logged into your safe. In acknowledgment of the fact that this is almost "too safe" we also have a master key recover option which you can select at account setup and also change when logged in. If you accept this option you provide us a secret question/answer and allow us to hold your master key in trust. If you lose your password we can recover your master key if you provide the correct answer to the secret question.
